Complete the given assignment for child care development.

Preparation for the project will have two parts:

1. For the purpose of this exam, you can choose a center based or an in-home child care program to complete your observations. It would be best to evaluate which type of CDA credential you'll be applying for and choose a child care setting that complements your career goals.

The information and experience you gain through these observations will assist you in your understanding of the course lessons and in growing professionally as an early childhood educator. Ideally, the child care program should offer you access to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

2. Contact the center's administrator to request permission to visit the center and to record your observations. You may have to make one separate appointment to ask your questions and then schedule one or more additional visits to perform the observations. These other visits may be necessary to gather all the information required to complete your report.

Assure the director that you'll protect the anonymity of the center and its staff, children, and parents, and that you won't use real names in  your report. There is no prescribed number of hours you'll need to devote to your visit(s) at the center; you'll need to visit the center for as long as it takes you to complete the checklist and to record enough observations and notes to complete the assignment.
