Choose a television show, film or song and analyze the characters through the lens of class. You may make a list of bullet points that answer the following questions and offer concluding remarks based on your detailed analysis:

1. How can you tell what class backgrounds the characters are supposed to be form?

2. What jobs do they hold?

3. Are their lifestyles, behaviors, possessions, and homes reflective of their class?

4. Does the show seem to promote the idea of The American Dream?

5. If the song or film is critical of class, what is it trying to say and how does it attempt to do that?

6. What effect do you think the presentation of class in the media has on of our own identity?
