Chemistry-Paper

The Purpose of this Assignment

Submission of an ePortfolio is required for this class.

Your Signature Assignment should address topics of personal interest, societal concerns, local, or even global issues, from your new found perspective as a student of chemistry using the knowledge and tools you've gained in this class.

It must be original. Your content may be presented as a written essay, a PowerPoint, Prezi or other type of presentation, an information table, a self produce video, or even an experimental writeup with procedures, results and conclusions.

Your Reflection is a written assignment in which you examine how your experience in this class has affected your perspective regarding your Signature Assignment.

Be specific and show in detail the application of chemistry to your Signature Assignment. Use balanced chemical equations, show molecular formulas, calculate quantities of product produced, classify reactions, or demonstrate the application of the scientific method.

You may need to modify your chemical formulas, symbols and equations to be compatible with limited website formatting capability.

Important ePortfolio Guidelines for Introductory Chemistry

• Your ePortfolio is due on or before the last day of class. Late ePortfolios will not be accepted without advance notice.

• Your ePortfolio must be original and consist of a Signature Assignment (Links to an external site.) accompanied by a Reflection (Links to an external site.). Do not copy and paste from other sources. Create new content in your own words.

• The Signature Assignment must have a chemistry focus.

• The Reflection must specifically discuss the Signature Assignment - not how you feel about chemistry, the class, the instructor etc.

• Clearly delineate the two separate sections - your Signature Assignment and your Reflection. Failure to do so will result in a loss of points.

• The Signature Assignment may be derived, but not copied from an assignment that you completed in this course, excluding tests, quizzes, and the homework assignments or it may be one of your own choosing.

• For instance, you might use one of the Case Studies encountered in this class as a spring board for your own original Case Study.

• You may employ various media formats including written, video, narrated slideshows and other formats that are compatible with your ePortfolio website.

• You may even submit an original music videos (Links to an external site.) with lyrics describing or involving chemistry!
