Case:Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. ___ (2012), was a United States Supreme Court case involving Arizona's Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act. At issue is whether the law usurps the federal government's authority to regulate immigration laws and enforcement. The Court ruled that sections 3, 5(C), and 6 of S. B. 1070 are preempted by federal law.

On April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law SB 1070, or the "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act".[1] The act made it a state misdemeanor crime for an illegal immigrant to be in Arizona without carrying registration documents required by federal law, authorizes state and local law enforcement of federal immigration laws, and cracks down on those sheltering, hiring and transporting illegal immigrants. The bill's passage immediately sparked concerns over potential civil rights violations and have accused it of encouraging racial profiling.

Summarize the case in a 1,400- to 2,100-word written analysis in which you explain the implications it has regarding social policy in the area of public safety. How does your selected case apply to individual privacy rights and laws relating to those rights? Explain.

Debate the following areas in your analysis:

·Laws relating to search and seizure
·Laws relating to surveillance by police
·Laws relating to surveillance by school officials
·Laws relating to surveillance by security personnel

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
