Punishment is carried out as a way of reshaping or reforming the whole society rather than an individual.This is because the individual who commits a crime is part of the society.By him committing the crime, he represents the criminal behaviors that have cropped up in the entire society.Prisons should thereby teach on morals, ethics, and values to all offenders as a way of preventing them from committing crimes in future.
