Can someone please explain to me how to identify the ion when you are given its last electron with the following quantum numbers?
Identify the element or ion from the following information:
X^4+ whose 'last electron' has the following quantum numbers
n = 4
l = 2
m(l) = -2
m(s) = -1/2
From n=4 and l=2 I know that it is in the 4d orbital, but afterwards I'm not sure what to do. If someone could please explain to me how the answer is Pd^4+ I would greatly appreciate it.
