Byzantium's Greek legacy is as European and valid as is Rome's Latin offspring, but where would we expect to find it in today's Europe? Where do we find flavour of Byzantium today? Byzantium died in 1453, yet Eastern Europe and Western Europe, have been at odds and suspicious of one another's' motives as RomanEmpire was divided. Can Cold War be traced back to divisions between Greek and Latin worlds when Christianity split along the same lines, and so also split Europe? Even today suspicions of Russian actions and motives are huge, and they also are suspicious of ours. Is there cultural divide here going all way back to Greece and Rome?
