Binding energy of a system is described as the energy released when its constituents are brought from infinity to form the system. It can also be explained as the energy required separating its constituents to large distances. If an electron and a proton are initially at rest and brought from large distances to make a hydrogen molecule, 13.6 eV energy will be free. The binding power of a hydrogen molecules is thus 13.6 eV.
