Begin a journal that you will keep throughout the 5 weeks of class. Each week your instructor will provide a few writing prompts related to each week's topics to help guide your journal. You must respond to two of the prompts each week in at least 175 words, but you may respond to others if you wish.

Week 1 journal writing prompts:

1. Describe the steps of your current personal writing process. For example, how do you approach a writing assignment for school or for work?

2. What would you describe as the strengths in your writing? What weaknesses do you think your writing exhibits? Are there ways to take advantage of your strengths and overcome your weaknesses in writing? If so, what are they?

3. Describe a writing assignment (for either school or work) where you spent time proofreading your draft. Did your writing improve after you looked at your draft a second time? What kinds of changes did you make before turning it back to your instructor (or your manager)?
