The Role of Argument, Analyzing Arguments, and Strategies for Arguing in Everyone's an Author (269-324, 1st ED; 373-441, 2nd ED.) Notice the methods for making logical appeals, how to spot logical fallacies, and the ten strategies of argument (analogy, classification, comparison/contrast, definition, description, example, humor, narrative, problem/solution, and reiteration).

2. Research.

Find a really good, easy-to-understand example of logical appeals and logical fallacies online and be ready to share a link or document with your classmates.

3. Respond.

Write three short summaries of the reading for logical appeals, logical fallacies, and the strategies for making an argument and post to the discussion board. Link to any examples that you found online to help your classmates with easy-to-understand descriptions for anything in this reading.

RRR 10 - This is Where I Stand Part 1

1. Read

The "'So What? Who Cares?': Saying Why It Matters," Chapter 7 in They Say/I Say (92-101). Notice the templates for indicating who cares and for indicating why your claims matter.

2. Research.

Go through your past writings for this class, another class, or even outside of class. Do you indicate "so what?" and "who cares?"

3. Respond.

Revise a portion of the writing you found to indicate "so what?" and "who cares?" using one or more of the templates in the chapter. Post it to share with your classmates.
