discussing many issues in the deaf community, some of which are quite controversial and divisive. Perhaps the most controversial of these - as clearly delineated in the required-reading book Deaf Like Me -- is the debate in deaf education between speech and sign.

In an essay of between 750-1,000 words, describe this issue along with your opinion on it. In the essay, you must include cited-sources research into the two histories of both ASL education and the so-called Bell System of deaf-speech education.
