Argumentative Writing

Convincing a person to view a certain opinion about a certain topic your way, needs to be approached with a certain skill that one needs to have to change the viewpoint that the audience had been convinced as being the wrong one to the right one being from the speaker. I remember a time when I convinced my friend who although was a Christian was an ardent protestant while I was a Catholic. I had to look for the opportune time to convince them of the validity of my argument and the fact that my stand was one that was accurate and correct. I hence invited them to a retreat that I made sure was different from the religion that they had been used to which was the prosperity gospel. The timing was hence one that portrayed Christianity as something that can be enjoyed without having to throw away their monies to ungrateful people who made them believe that being a good person was only by supporting them in the financial perspective. It was also important that I convinced the person of the need for one to look at the impact that the Protestants had in terms of the financial impact that was relatable to the people. it was, therefore, accurate to assume that my presentation of the facts had proven to be successful as far as the issue of convincing my friend on the genuineness of catholic when it is compared to other denominations that purport to be influenced by the teachings of the bible.

While I was carrying out the process of convincing the others, I saw it important that one looks at the need for one to set their expectations in a manner that does not in any way contradict the expectations that one held about the possibility of holding the person accountable. It was hence important that one looks at the reason that one wants to convince the person of the need to be heard a so forth. Sometimes determining why one wants the audience that one is targeting to be convinced of their genuineness is to want to look smart or well - informed. In my instance, knowing what to tell the audience at the most opportune time was important as it ensured that each person had their purpose well established. It was, therefore, necessary that one look at the impact that the information that they are meeting to the audience has on the beliefs and the convictions that they hold about a certain subject. In addition, it is necessary that one looks at the impact that the diverse opinions about the subject. This is because I had noticed that whenever we had a conversation and had tried to belittle the beliefs that they had, it often resulted to the friend shutting down, realizing that most people translate being wrong about a particular subject translates to them having been wrong their whole lives about everything. It is, therefore, necessary that one present their arguments in a way that seems plausible to the parties that are concerned. Being open minded also assisted me in ensuring that I did not appear as if I was forcing the person to have a conversation with me but was rather pegged on a mutual agreement between the two. Knowing when to present the three integral parts of convincing the audience was one that was important as it ensures that the target person is convinced.
