Any individual research topic of your choosing if developed in consultation with your unit chair, that:

i) Explores the philosophical implications of a Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian or Islamic idea, or

ii) Contrasts an idea across two of these religious traditions to uncover the philosophical implications of different understandings of that idea.

The essay must go beyond mere description to provide a critical engagement with ideas and will require research beyond the course materials provided. And you MUST contact the unit chair for approval and assistance in developing and refining your topic BEFORE beginning to write.
