Gender orientation is psychologically formed. It is assembled by each individual and is associated to behavior. Culture, societal roles and group associations play significant roles in gender orientation. Everyone has their own gender orientation based on their actions. Gender orientation is more valuable than biological sex when determining how individuals communicate with each other (Bevan & Sole, 2014, Section 2.2).

My sex role inventory score for masculinity is eighty seven and my score for femininity is one hundred and twenty three. My score puts me in the feminine area. When I received my score, I was not too surprised. When communicating with others I tend to be more emotional towards them, which falls under femininity. I do feel that in certain situations like the work environment, I like to be the leader and take charge which is a masculine characteristic. Although I scored high in femininity, I think that I can easily communicate to both masculine and feminine individuals.

The benefit of being androgynous is being able to build good relationships with both masculine and feminine individuals. Androgynous individuals are able to change and adapt to the people they communicate with (Bevan and Sole, 2014, Section 2.2). In doing so, positive interpersonal relationships are formed.
