1.The essay will focus on a specific theme (silence, trickster figure, cultural integrity, historical accuracy, etc.) in Kyle Baker's Nat Turner. In it you will be asked to address both the creative aspects of Baker's narrative as well as the ways in which he portrays race identity. Make sure that you utilize at least one of the critical texts as a resource.

2.Essay assignments will follow MLA format. This means they must be typed, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins all around, in 12 point, Times New Roman or similar font. Final essays will be 3 pages in length. The first page must display your name, my name, Humanities 370, and the date the assignment is due. Every paper should have an original title.
