Considering Social Justice Thinking, what institutional pressures create social problems for poor children in education?

In 1954, the United States Supreme Court determined that segregation was illegal, because of the psychological impact of differential treatment on young African American children. Thurgood Marshall used the evidence of psychologists Kenneth Bancroft Clark and his wife, Mamie Phipps Clark in doll tests that proved young Black children associated negative characteristics with darker skin color.

Social Justice education tells us that many of the negative aspects of disadvantaged groups comes from the institutional pressures on those groups instead of some inherent dysfunction within the groups. For our discussion this week, please review the Library of Congress' webpage on the Brown v. Board case. Specifically, read through the materials on the doll tests:Brown v.
