Write a paper 5-8 pages of double spaced content as a minimum, addressing at least two of the case studies referenced below these instructions. Respond to the case in essay form (rather than simply numbering the applicable descriptions based on the rubric and then writing your responses), with a clear thesis paragraph and body paragraphs which relate the appropriate DSS components (below) within the chosen case(s). Be sure to include a concluding paragraph. Which of the following DSS components relate to each case?
There are three types of DSS decisions: structured, semi-structured and unstructured. These types of decisions are dependent upon the information management, data qualifications and model manipulation needs of the company. Use the assumptions directly below to research your decision making. Read the cases below and the resources available, along with any outside research, and define which type(s) of DSS decisions are best fit to:

Assumptions:

1. Collect data

2. Include p processes to select meaningful data

3. Learn and evaluate components to compare decisions and examine them to see if there is a need to change the data being used, and

4. Apply processes to combine the data.

DSS can also facilitate decisions described as:

1. Communications driven

2. Data driven

3. Document driven

4. Model driven

5. Knowledge driven

DSS are used to support decisions in:

1. Strategic management

2. Tactical management

3. Operational management

1. Define what type of decision support is being used by the chosen case study(s). Compare and contrast the various drivers used by the case and justify why these are the best choices.

2. Describe how your selected company will use computers and information systems, including Web and mobile technologies in decision support.

3. Determine which management level is represented in the case study(s) chosen. Justify your choice.

Case Study One:

Mesa?s Foundation Trust (MFT) is a recently opened hospital that is consolidating services and facilities previously provided by Tucson Heart Hospital, Phoenix Hospital and Scottsdale Women?s Hospital. Offering treatment to more than 5,000 outpatients per month, and with state and federal regulations regarding times and throughout, MFT is under pressure to ensure it can treat and process patients as quickly and efficiently as possible. MFT needs a type of DSS to assist in handling these targets based on the historical data from the combined hospitals and the new capabilities from MFT?s Automatic IT Support that provides 99% system uptime to hospital staff.

Case Study Two:

NASA must deal with its data center space constraints based on bandwidth capacity and limited HVAC systems in preparation for the upcoming Mars Project. It wants to develop a new high-performance computer cluster to provide highly technical simulations of the solar system to Mars with energy-efficient technologies. NASA needs exact specifications, analysis and computations to ensure success of this Project. NASA will require 99% system uptime for scientists and engineers.
