Word Unit Exam

You job is to write and design a catalog for the fall term of arts and crafts classes at the Oakland Arts Center. The finished catalog will be several pages long and include information on classes, membership, and registration. You have entered the text for the catalog and now need to edit it.

1. Start Word 2013.

2. Open the file WD BX-2 Spring 2016 exam.docx from the drive and folder where you store your Data Files, and then save it as Oakland Arts Center.

3. Read the entire document to get a feel for its contents, and then press [Ctrl][Home] to return the insertion point to the beginning of the document, if necessary.

4. Change the zoom level to 75%.

5. Scroll down until the heading for the Glass section of the catalog is at the top of your screen.

6. Select the entire Glass section (from the word "Glass" to the end of the description of the Fundamentals of Stained Glass class).

7. Use the Cutand Pastebuttons to move the Glass section before the Ceramics section at the beginning of the catalog. (Hint: After cutting the text, place the insertion point before the Ceramics heading, then paste the text.) After pasting the text, press [Enter] to add one blank line before the Ceramics heading.

8. Scroll down until the heading for the Painting section of the catalog is at the top of your screen.

9. In the Painting section, move the Beginning/Intermediate Watercolor class to the beginning of the Painting section, before the Drawing and Watercolor class. Be sure there is one blank line before the Drawing and Watercolor class.

10. Press [Ctrl][Home].

11. Correct spelling and grammar errors in the document. Remember: Not all flagged instances are errors; read the document content and check the choices before making a decision. Also remember the first choice is not always the correct replacement choice; review all choices before making a decision. Do not change the spelling of the word "Raku" if Word flags it as misspelled.

12. Replace NM: with Non-members:, taking care to match the case when you perform the replace.

13. Replace M: with Members:, again taking care to match the case.

14. Press [Ctrl][Home], type your name, and then press [Enter] twice.

15. Review the document for errors, and then make any necessary adjustments. Save your changes to the document.

16. Press [Ctrl][A] to select the whole document, then format the text in 12-point Garamond, justified.

17. At the top of the document, right-align the following lines: Oakland Arts Center, School of Arts and Crafts, Fall 2016, and September 17 - January 8.

18. At the top of the document, format Oakland Arts Center in 26-point Garamond, bold.

19. Format School of Arts and Crafts in 48-point Verdana, bold, with any shadow effect.

20. Press [Enter] before Arts so that Arts and Crafts appear together on one line. Format the first line of the heading, School of, with 18points of space before the paragraph. Format the second line of the heading, Arts and Crafts, with 24points of space after the paragraph.

21. Format Fall 2016 in 24-point Garamond, bold, italic.

22. Format September 17 - January 8 in 24-point Garamond, italic.

23. Format the following headings in 36-point Garamond with a shadow effect and a single solid line .5 point border underneath: Glass, Ceramics, Jewelry, Photography, Drawing, Painting, Woodworking.

24. Under the headings, format each class title in 18-point Garamond, bold, with 3 points of space after the paragraph.

25. For each class, format the information on workshop/sessions, dates, and times in small caps.

26. For each class, format the information on fees for members and non-members in bold.

27. Review the document for errors, and then make any necessary adjustments. Save your changes to the document.

28. Change the document margins: First, create mirror margins, and then change the top and bottom margins to .8", the inside margin to .6", and the outside margin to 1".

29. Insert a continuous section break before the Glass heading, and then insert a hard page break after the date.

30. Change the vertical alignment of the first section (page 1) to Center.

31. Format the text in the second section (which begins on page 2) in two columns.

32. Insert a footer, type Oakland Arts Center/1-800-555-3879.

33. Format the footer in 12-point Garamond small caps, then apply bold to the text Oakland Arts Center and right align.

34. In the Header area type School of Arts and Crafts/Fall 2016.

35. Format the headers in 12-point Garamond small caps, apply bold to the textSchool of Arts and Crafts.

36. Close headers and footers.

37. Insert appropriate pictures.

38. Examine the document and make any necessary adjustments, save your changes, close the file, then exit Word. Upload the file to the D2L Brightspacedropbox.
