When something breaks down, such as a vacuum cleaner or a car, the owner must decide whether the cost of fixing the item is less than or greater than replacing the item entirely. In the case of a car, it is often much less expensive to fix a broken part than it is to buy a new car, but not so for a vacuum cleaner.

In this Assignment, you will imagine that you work for a large insurance company with a history of successful operation for the last 30 years. The company is expanding its online product portfolios and has two choices:

  • Upgrading the existing IS/IT enterprise architecture
  • Developing a new architecture

To complete this Assignment:

Submit a paper in which you critically evaluate how project management would differ between upgrading or developing new architecture. Based on your evaluation, state which option you would choose or describe an alternative choice of your own design. List the key factors influencing your choice.

A typical paper should have around 1,000 words, but it is the quality of the answer that matters, not the number of words. Cite at least three references, preferably from peer-reviewed journals
