This is an embedded system that involves the integration of hardware and software design stages. It consists of the user interface (keypads and LCD display) and two Peripheral Interface Controllers (PIC) micro chips; the main micro-controller and pre-programmed micro-controller, both with in-built I2C Protocol Bus.

In contemporary electronic systems there are various peripheral ICs that have to communicate with each other and the outside world. To make best use of hardware efficiency and simplify circuit design, Philips developed a simple bi-directional 2-wire, serial data (SDA) and serial clock (SCL) bus for inter-IC control.

The Peripheral Interface Chip Design project will involve the integration of PIC Microcontrollers, User Interface and I2C technologies.

The main micro-controller receives instructions or data from the keypad via the interface chip device and bi-directional I2C bus, which is then processed and sent back to Pre programmed microcontroller. The processed information is displayed on the LCD display screen. The set of instructions are written in C-language and I2c codes.
