The Mughal Empire completed changed India after ruling for over 200 years. The Mughals brought architecture and new religion acceptance to the culture of India. "The Mughal rulers themselves were extraordinary patrons of art, whose intellectual calibre and cultural outlook was expressed in the most refined taste" (Manas) When discussing the most influential person in the Mughal rule, Akbar is most mentioned. During his rule, he led the project of the for the new capital, Fatehpur Sikri. He built the new capital in a remote area which led to him also designing a water system for the city. Another famous Mughal ruler who contributed to architecture was Shah Jahan. He is most famous for his construction of the Taj Mahal, but he also started replacing sandstone with marble.

Rulers Babur, Akbar, Shah Jahan, and Jahangir helped establish colleges and schools to pave the way to a better education system. Akbar and Babur also helped establish the Persian language in India which was a huge influence on literature in the Mughal culture. In India, at the time Hindus were more prominent until the Mughal empire. Akbar actually extremely lenient on the Hindus and actually encouraged theological discussions with all different types of religion. "In the Mughal case, there was no linguistic or religious uniformity and no formal distinction between the rulers of subordinate principalities and purely imperial servants." (Streusand) Even though the Mughal empire didn't last, they still impacted India's culture that left a permanent mark on India and it's people.
