You are employed as an electronic design engineer in a large Telecommunications company. You have been given a design brief to develop a digital circuit that will convert a binary coded decimal word into the equivalent decimal number as shown in figure below. However, only the even numbers including zero and digit one are to be displayed with all other numbers displayed as shown in figure below. The final circuit will consist of seven individual circuits for each of the outputs a - g. Part of the design brief is a circuit that will consume minimum power from a battery supply. The chief engineer has asked you to produce a report detailing all the steps involved in designing, building and simulating the circuit. The report should include the following:
• Initial logic circuits based on the appropriate truth table
• Minimised logic circuits using a K- map approach
• Final design circuits based on the same logic gates
• Evidence of a fully working simulated circuit
The report should also include research into why you have chosen the type of logic devices used by comparing them with the characteristics of similar devices ( TTL and CMOS ).
