This practice has been going on since Old English times and it has just changed tactics for modern ways of communication. These methods are used by the intelligence groups, military, federal and local governments worldwide. But does this make it any easier to understand and comprehend if it is done with a legal document or by the acts of a few like Snowden.

The answer to me is the person or group being looked at. In today's modern technology world we have many forms of communication that is used via Email, Chat, Mobile devices and Voice over IP phone systems that collecting this information takes time and technology to accomplish the tasks. In my prior law enforcement career, I was involved in many cases where we would 'wiretap' a system to gather vital information on a suspect or victim of a case.

These were done always by local or federal warrants that were fully documented and vetted for legal issues. The key to all of these were to protection of a victim in a case or to bring justice to a person that continues to terrorize others within the communities I live in. It was and will always be a part of investigations.

I do not agree with others doing their own crusades to bring light to a investigative tactics that has been going on for decades and has just evolved with changing technology. Romans 13:1-3 states 'Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.

For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,'.

The world is a troubling place at times and tactics need to be done LEGALLY to keep each and everyone safe from the evils that lurk among us.
