When most people think of the effect of practice on profession, they may first think of law, medicine, or teaching. What about engineering? How much thought have you given to the way you practice engineering and its relationship to the quality of work you and your company succeeds? With regard to the lecture, text, and How Its Made videos- what are your thoughts on how practice effects our profession and results.

Also I need two replies of these two discussion post:

1. Our world is formed by many aspects. The engineering practice also has great influence on people. In other word, the engineering is integral part for human to live in this world. The practice engineering is not only advances people's life quality, but also form the basis of human life. Since ancient times, human need place that avoid the wind and rain to live. Sometimes, this place is useful to avoid dangerous. According to the social progress and population increase, people will need to make buildings by themselves. The SgRa Architectural Company is one company that helps people to make the building or house. When SgRa Company get one project, they should contacts structural engineer, building owner, MEP designer and appearance designer to make sure the building shape and structure. It forms human city appearance and affects city transportation layout. Totally, horse or building is necessary for people to work or live. It also influence personal mood, because everyone loves delicate and beautiful.

During Coop period, I worked in Urban Technology, which is one MEP designing company. After SgRa company completes floor plan designing. Then SgRa Company will contact MEP designer to build the electrical, plumbing and air conditioning system. These systems will relate with people's life. For example, my design should ensure the correct data, particularly in electrical. I must make sure people's safety and continuous daily use. Mostly, my design provide convenient and confortable to human. The pluming let people use water easily and avoid sewage disposal. The air conditioning design let people live in confortable place without worrying about weather. Practices engineering are closely connected with human's life, and protect people anytime.

2. Personally, to me, Engineering is a field that definitely requires practicing effort a lot. There is an old saying NO PAIN NO GAIN. It works for everyone. When people think of the effect of practice on profession, I agree with that they may first think of law, medicine or teaching. This is the pretty obvious. Especially for medicine, everyone knows that in United States, how many efforts you need to put in order to become a doctor in the future. I agree with that. However, what about engineer? Sometimes, I questioned myself. Why should I choose engineering as my major? How to became professional on engineering? How many things we can change or make it better after we become professional. To me, after spending three years in Drexel. The answer to me become much clearer. Now, I wanted to mention my last coop experience as an evidence. My last coop was in PJM. PJM is a regional transmission company. It's first priority is reliability first so that every customer can use electricity whenever they want. In United States, As I want to say is thanks for the engineers in PJM, we have a good reliability power grid in Northeast of United States. They worked so hard to make sure that all the states under PJM monitored have the reliability. Also, they cooperated with New York and MISO a lot to perform a reliability Power Grid in Northeast America. Because of the reliable support, PJM built a reputation all over the world. During my coop, I had seen people from China and Japan, they sent out people to PJM and wanted to learn the way that they succeed. In PJM, each operation step is covered by standards and NERC, which is North American Reliability Corporation, will audit PJM once a while. In my opinion, engineering field to me, they are all inconspicuous for the most of time. Therefore, people will always easily to forget how important it is. To me, engineering is the human basic.

Just like the theory of human motivation psychological review by Abraham Harold Maslow, engineering must be basic to human. This is the reason to me that people always ignore it. That does not mean that engineering is not an effect of practice on profession. In fact, it needs as much effort as being a doctor. The PJM evidence indicated that when you did try to put your effort, it will lead you to success.
