Suppose you have a 10Kbps channel and you want to send 10Kbit data chunk. How long does it take on an average to transmit?

What is the throughput now? Suppose the wait time is influenced by the load (many users send simultaneously) on the channel.

At peak times you find that it takes on an average 50msec to send 10Kbit data chunk. What is the throughput now?
