Question: On the same figure that you plotted in Problem, plot the mean-square distortion when the quantization levels are taken to be the centroids of the quantization regions. For what values of N are the two plots closer and why?

Problem: A zero-mean, unit-variance Gaussian source is quantized using a uniform quantizer. The quantizer uniformly quantizes the interval [ -10, 10]. Assuming the quantization levels are located at midpoints of the quantization regions, determine and plot the mean-square distortion for N = 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 as a function of N, the number of quantization levels.
