In chemical engineering, dynamic process models based on conservation laws have become an indispensable tool for the development of new processes and the improvement of existing ones. However, the development of realistic and predictive models is a challenging and time consuming task. This is due to the fact that a model is to choose, validate and revise the physical model assumptions. Modeling is an iterative process. Q2 Sizing of Process pipe line

Determine the size of the process pipe line for the following operating conditions

Total flow rate                                                                                                                      200,000 kg/hr

This stream is to be divided into two split fractions. Simulate the process for the following conditions to determine the sizing of the piping system:

(i) Equal flow of the material in downstream piping

(ii) Split fraction of 1:3

(iii) Split fraction of 1:2

Also indicate the process conditions at the inlet and split fractions for all the above cases.Prepare a detailed report about pipe sizing values obtained as function of pipe schedule number, pipe roughness. Include the detailed steps that are used for the simulation of the piping system.
