Pretend that you are the IT manager of a fast growing small technology company with four groups - Engineering, Technical Support, Sales and Marketing, and General Administration. The company has four Fast Ethernet LAN segments on a Gigabit Ethernet backbone with a gateway to the ISP. You would like to centrally monitor the traffic and study the trend in traffic pattern.

One of the mostly commonly used traffic-monitoring tool is MRTG (Multi Router Graphic Router). Study the use of MRTG for use in your company and prepare a report to present to your management. You should assume that the management needs education on the subject. Here is an outline that you may use for your report.
