Disaster Recovery Plan

This plan was developed in November 2015, in response to a series of network outages. Minimizing downtime is critical given that the IT system is heavily integrated into the production and distribution operations of the company.

To minimize downtime in the event of a disaster, Oppo Operations policy includes the following steps:

1. Weekly backup of the network servers. To ensure quick and easy access, the backups will be kept in a locked desk drawer in my office.

2. The servers are kept in a secured room next to my office. I have the only keys to the room.

3. To ensure backups can be properly restored, testing of the backup systems will be done once a quarter.

4. I created a list of all hardware in use as at June 2015. In the event of theft, damage, or failure, I will purchase identical hardware, to be used for uploading the backup files.

5. In the event that a loss happens between backups, OPPO Operations will hire a clerical person to help the accounting group enter transactions since the last backup.

Since the system will be restored from the weekly backups, only the transactions entered manually will be tested for accuracy. The master files will not have had any changes, so they can be relied upon without further work.

6. In the event of a break-in or theft, I will begin immediate replacement and restoration of the files.

7. I performed a full review of the IT system in January 2015. I have noticed that the system seems a lot slower these days.
