The Oracle Corporation is an multinational computer technology corporation that specializes in developing and marketing hardware systems and enterprise software products. Oracle main focus is on database management systems. The company is the third largest software revenue, after Microsoft and IBM. Oracle is best know for its Orcale Database, but has built database development systems like, enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management software (CRM) and the supply chain management (SCM) software. Oracles vise president of product management of BI states "Organizations are under pressure to maintain, if not improve, performance while enacting broad cost-cutting measures.

Oracle Business Intelligence Applications deliver insight into workforce, procurement and pricing performance to help organizations take decisive actions to improve their execution enterprise wide." (Oracle Press Release 2009)
From the information that I found about Oracle it seem that they are backing up what they say and investing a ton of research into the BI. Oracle created a new BI applicaction 7.9.6 that delivers new capabilities and content in Oracle Human Resource Analytics ( for human Resources), Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics to help purchasing and sourcing organization identify, and more. Oracle BI Applications also touches base with
· Financials
· Supply Chain
· Order Management
· Sales, Service
· Marketing
· Project
· Loyalty and Contact Center Telephony
· And a range of specialized industry analytics

Oracle is definitely moving up the food chain with a Variety of different application and new technologies to enhance performance while cutting cost. IBM is dominating the mainframe relational-database market with its DB2 and SQL/DS database products but didn't hit the open market due to relational database on UNIX and Windows operating systems. Which left a back door open for Oracle to dominate mid-range and microcomputers. Oracle was ahead of all companies until Microsoft came out SQL Server. The problem with SQL is that it only runs on windows. Today Oracle competes for new database licenses on UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems Oracle provides a complete and integrated system for managing and optimizing enterprise-wide performance.
