1. Which approach to computing is a better approach? Do you believe in Apple's integrated approach (after their initial partnership with Microsoft) or Microsoft's more diversified approach?
2. Think of all of the devices that each company has created, Windows, iPad, Office, iPhone, Xbox, Mac, Windows Phone, OSX, which one do you find the easiest to navigate and use? Why?
3. What makes each of these companies so successful?
4. Why did Apple win in the areas of tablets and phones while Microsoft won in the area of software and gaming?
5. Bill Gates talks about the GUI interface, explain what that means and do a little research and find out which company created this interface, if you are from the Rochester area you may find this to be surprising. What other important computer components were invented by this Rochester based company?
6. Gates discusses using the cloud to run tasks, remember this video is from 2007, where did the cloud end up? How do each of these companies utilize the cloud in their products and software? Walt Mossberg asks a question related to the cloud and hardware, how did Google approach hardware and the cloud? Look into their computer offerings.
7. Walt asks each of them what they imagine they will be carrying and using in five years, what do you think you will be working on primarily five years from now? What will this device look like? Think outside the box, think from a sci-fi perspective, but steeped in current reality.
