New Materials in Construction
Project Brief - As a group of 4 you are to look at a new construction material.
Project requirements
1. Describe the new material from a material science/engineering perspective.
2. Consider its purpose, what it replaces, is it something new, is it a new function etc.
3. Relevance to structures in the built environment.
4. Consider the life cycle analysis, design life and durability.
5. Use reliable sources of information; do not depend exclusively on internet resources.
Your submission should have the following content:
-Introduction
-Description of Material
-Literature Search
o Information obtained from your literature research should describe what the properties of the material are, why is it used and discuss its relevant properties.
-Example Structures
o Identify buildings or structures using that material with reference to function, maintenance and durability.
-Discussion
o Discussion on information found with opinions drawn from this information. Do not base on personal opinion.
-Conclusions
-Bibliography/References
o Referencing (Harvard method preferred, the UWS library can help).
