Value chain analysis is useful at the business level to highlight specific activities in the business where information systems are most likely to have a strategic impact.
- In the organization you are working for or any organization of your choice. Use the value chain model to analyze the activities in the organization on the bases of primary activity and supporting activates.
- Identify the systems used in each of these activates.
- Choose one system from the primary activates and a system from the supporting activities then
- Give a brief description of the main characteristics of these systems
- Examine the role of these systems in the processes
- Examine if the systems are aligned with the strategy of the organization.
