Were your thoughts about overlooking project cost management the same as your peer's thoughts? describe.

How do you and your peer's ideas compare and differ as far as how cost management can help projects? describe.

below is the post

• How can overlooking project cost management be detrimental to completing projects within budget?

It can very easy to overlook cost management if it is not watching and carefully planned. If you go over budget, then that could be detrimental in completing the project you are working on. Cost is one of the three pillars supporting project success or failure, the other two being schedule and performance.

Projects that go significantly "over budget" are often terminated without achieving the project goals because stakeholders simply run out of money or perceive additional expenditures as "throwing good money after bad."
Projects that stay within budget are the exception, not the rule. A project manager who can control costs while achieving performance and schedule goals should be viewed as somewhat of a hero, especially when we consider that cost, performance, and schedule are closely interrelated.

• How could cost management have helped a project you were involved with?

In all honestly, cost was and is not a huge issue or concern in my project primarily because of the resources already available to me through the US Army. I have man power and transportation at the cost of the DoD.

• How can cost management help you in future projects?

In future projects, cost management should always be in the mind of any PM. My future projects, unless otherwise detailed will most definitely carry with it the details of a project cost management criteria. Utilizing cost management could save me in future cost's that are unnecessary to my completing any project. It will give me the ability in order to track my costs and keep them to a minimum.
