This could be delivered in a wide variety of ways, but it will include a description of the business activities of an organisation, with some staffing details and information about how they use IT in their business.

Your task is to act as a consultant to the business and provide them with detailed feedback and advice on the following.

How they can use new and emerging technologies to improve their business

For example, the following areas (In addition to any you might think of) should be covered

· Communication

· Staff satisfaction

· Workflow

· Marketing

· Advice on Safety and Security of their IT infrastructure, to include strategies, policies and good practice.

In all instances an attempt should be made to justify possible expenditure on any new equipment or resources by providing a cost benefit analysis. This is not an easy task because many of the benefits will be intangible or difficult to evaluate (staff wellbeing) and many of the costs might be hidden (consumables and training)

It is particularly important that any suggestions are legally acceptable and that they are focussed on the areas that you have expertise in.

This coursework has been divided into three distinct parts in order that you can receive feedback on your work as you develop the coursework.

The first stage is a preparation stage

You need to identify the nature of the organisation's business and how you understand the nature of their goals. You will need to carry out an initial brainstorm to show how IT might benefit their business. (500 words plus brainstorm/mindmap notes)

The second stage

A clear outline of the advice on safety and security of their IT infrastructure, to include strategies, policies and good practice. (500 words)

Third Stage

A complete report to include work from the first two stages and lab sessions. The report should be in the third person, it should be aimed at the management of the organisation. The report will also include an outline cost benefit analysis, clearly identifying intangible benefits. (3000 words maximum total). Information will need to be communicated clearly using a variety of presentation tools (tables, graphs, charts). It may help to create a summary of your key suggestions in PowerPoint, as this forces you to think about how you can justify an idea in a few sentences
