1) Oral arguments before Supreme Court concerning the Communications Decency Act (CDA) focused extensively on finding the most suitable analogy for cyberspace. Arguments were presented which compared the Internet to a library, to the television, and to a public place like a street corner or park.
2) Explain why are these comparisons so significant? Explain briefly the diferences between the television, libraries, and the public places with respect to the First Amendment protection.
For each of these three analogies (television, library, and public place), explain one of the significant way in which the Internet is similar and one important way in which it is quite different. Describe the relevance of each of these similarities and differences in order to issue of regulation of the Internet.
