Problem: The Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI) provides a way of conceptualizing a communication system. It does this by partitioning the system into layers. The OSI model is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is an excellent example of abstraction and layering applied to a complex system. Gaining a thorough understanding of the OSI model can help you design, develop, and troubleshoot distributed applications.

For this Discussion, you will evaluate the failure of a distributed application and analyze where in the OSI Model the failure may be related to.

To prepare:

• Consider a distributed application that you use and for which you have experienced a recent failure.
