Assignment

Overview:

Throughout the course, you have built individual plans for the different operating systems(OSs) we have discussed (Windows 10, a popular Linux distribution, MAC OS X 10.x). For the final project, you will describe the type of business SOHO Inc. is (medical, retail, hospitality, etc.), identify which OS you selected for SOHO Inc., and explain why you selected that OS for this company. You will then synthesize all of the parts of the previous module project assignments that pertain to the selected OS into this document as a deployment plan for SOHO Inc.

As a reminder, SOHO Inc. has the following requirements as it relates to their OS needs:

• SOHO Inc. is a small business that has contracted you to assess their existing mixed OS environment and provide recommendations for a singular OS solution that is optimized for their business.

o You will decide what type of business SOHO Inc. is (medical, hospitality, retail, etc.) and use that as the basis for your recommendation. SOHO has the following requirements for their business:

o OS installation plans must include step-by-step instructions for the recommended configurations

- Resources (files, folders, and printers) must be shared among users within a certain department
- Each department will have at least one printer and a high-level folder containing various department files

• For example, Human Resources will have a dedicated printer and a high-level folder called Human Resources containing files like New Hire Paperwork, Benefits Packages, etc.

o A system image will need to be captured for each system for maintenance and data recovery (if needed)
o Local network and Internet connectivity is required for each workstation
o At this time, built-in security mechanisms are sufficient for data, end-user, and desktop security

Objectives:

The overall objective of this project is to synthesize the individual module projects into a single document; however, you will also demonstrate the ability to:

• Independently navigate to and open an Internet browser to use its interface to access simple Internet Technology.

• Evaluate digital resources by relying on search engine results and distinguishing relevant digital materials from irrelevant materials.

• Create digital files by employing a template to create a document in the proper file format that incorporates built-in software tools for integrating graphics and other enhancements.

• Collaborate digitally using digital tools to enter contact information and directions to access specific websites to retrieve digital resources.

• Select credible sources and cite them according to APA standards.
