Purpose

This assignment is designed to assess students' knowledge and skills related to the following unit learning outcomes:

a. Describe the information technology and communications technology infrastructures employed by business organisations.
b. Appreciate the importance of individual and organisational stakeholders in the specification and development of ICT systems.

Description

ABC Institute of Technology, Australia, is centrally located in CBD, Melbourne. This institute is running various courses (units/subjects) and looking for effective and consistent way to calculate the student's assessments weighted marks and grades whereas student information is stored in Excel Worksheets for different units. The way of information exchange in the institute generally is by swapping different Excel Worksheets for one student and his/her different unit results.

Excel file (Assessment #1) has been provided with the student list and their non-weighted marks and file hold 2 Worksheets, Grades, and Questions. As a unit teacher, you are responsible to calculate / compile the marks of the students at the end of each semester. For each student, your task is to calculate the all assessment (Exam #1, Exam #2, Exam #3, Project, and Final Exam) weighted marks, print the grade and answer the questions in 'Grades' and 'Questions' Worksheets.

Breakdown of each assessment and grades distribution have provided in the following tables.

Also, as a unit teacher your task is to write a letter to the Principal, highlighting the points that are provided below in the MS Word section.

Tasks:

MS Excel Function: Before you begin, have to understanding the difference between weighted and non- weighted marks, Excel functions such as average, mean, median, SUM, SUMPRODUCT, SMALL, IF Condition, LOOKUP etc.

1. Calculate the weighted marks for each student in the class with formulas.
2. Print (Display the grades)
3. Answer the questions given in attached Excel file of Assignment's worksheets 'Grades' and 'Questions'

MS Word: Write a letter to the Principal (approx 800 words), by addressing the following points:

1. How would you analyse the marks in the Excel file?

2. How would you justify, your current Excel file is better approach of information exchange than the previous one?

3. What are your recommendations about different charts?

4. How Excel software can improve overall institute performance?

5. Recommendations.

6. Formal letter structure (use any letter format) with letterhead (it would be your institute letterhead).
