Assignment:
Using all four of the sources you found in week 3, create an annotated bibliography which includes a References citation for each source, followed by a summary paragraph of 50 words and an assessment of source reliability paragraph of 50 words. Make sure your bibliography is formatted according to APA standards. Please include an APA title page that states your research question as the title. Remember that you do not need to write a full paper, only the annotated bibliography.
Sample:
Gelman, R. G. (2002). Tales of a female nomad: Living at large in the world. New York City, NY: Broadway Publishing.
In Tales of a Female Nomad, author Rita Golden Gelman details her travels around the world as she seeks to find herself in a new stage in life. Recently divorced, Gelman embarks on an ambitious journey to become a "modern-day nomad," visiting new cultures and new places, while bringing only the possessions she can carry and putting down no roots in the countries she visits. Her purpose is to live life differently, without the connection to material possessions. Because Gelman undertakes her travels in the early 1980s, she is forging new ground in the genre of the travelogue, a traditionally male-dominated field.
Though a popular text, this source is reliable and relates to my research topic because I am investigating women's contributions to the traditionaly male-dominated genre of travel writing. Gelman studied anthropology and brings scholarly insight to her topic. Her ethos (credibility) also resides in the fact that she experienced what she writes. This text will help me to uncover some common stereotypes about women and the way they travel or the way they write about travel.
