A CSMA/CD bus spans a distance of 1.5 Km. If data is 5 Mbps, What is minimum frame size where propagation speed in LAN cable is 200 m µs.

Usual propagation speed in LAN cables = 200 m/µs

End-to-end propagation delay t = 1500/200 = 7.5 µ s

Minimum frame size = 2x 7.5 x 10 x 5 x 10 = 75 bits.

Minimum frame size for CSMA/CD LAN may be stated as

Here d= length of the cable in km.

R= data rate in Mbps
