1: I think collaboration is very important in the IT world and especially in the area of networking. When I'm working on equipment and I'm with other people we can always bounce ideas off one another and when it comes time to trouble shoot we generate ideas faster and can solve the problem quicker typically. When it's just you working on a project you only have yourself to rely on and if you find yourself at a crossroads or not understanding something it becomes more difficult to fix the problem or find a solution. Collaboration is also a great tool to enhance and promote learning as well as all of the individuals working on the task or project likely do not have the exact same knowledge in all the areas relative to the project.

4: Solving equations for specific variables can be difficult, but there are simple steps that are important to help solve the equation. Equations are much easier to solve before plugging in the numbers. If you can isolate a variable on one side of the equation, then it will be applicable to other similar equations that will ask you to solve for the variable. If we also know how to manipulate the equations, then you only have to remember one equation that has all the variables that are in question in it. It can be manipulated to solve for any other variable. This will then require less memorization when you are trying to solve and will save time. When we manipulate the equations, it can help us to figure out units on a number, therefore, if we manipulate, insert numbers and cancel out the units, we can then wind up with the correct units for any given variable. Following simple steps will allow us to memorize less and will definitely save more time in solving an equation.
2:I was originally put of my MML, but after completing the first 3 weeks of assignments and checkpoint in about 2 hours, I was impressed with how much easier and faster it is versus equation editor in Microsoft Word. I once took finite math and had to use Word which was painful to say the least. I remember using the equation editor to do augmented matrices, and it took me hours to input the data after doing the actual work in about an hour. So, now I am a huge MML fan.
The 1 challenge is paying close to attention to the case sensitivity and choosing the correct roll up numbers. Attention to detail in MML is critical to being successful.
3:"Cob webs" is an understatement in my case. When I came across PEMDAS I must have stared at it for a minute trying to remember if I had ever known what this meant. Many things I'm sure will come back to us quickly when we get a little bit further into it. Of coarse having a math wiz in the family is a great tool, but this discussion board will be great as well. This is something that I prefer over that of an on-campus class. How many people would willingly raise their hand to ask a question without worrying about being teased or feeling dumb. I think students can communicate more freely on here, hopefully this allows everyone to get a better understanding of the subject than pretending like they have all of the answers and don't need help.
