The format of your Research Proposal

Your proposal should be a maximum of 3000 words, in addition to your timetable and references or a short bibliography. Your proposal is not expected to be perfect at this stage, you are not expect to stick to it very closely as your ideas will almost certainly change once you start to study, but you are expected to write as follows:

Project Title
The title of your project must reflect the content.

Introduction
Problem identification
Aims and Objectives / Question formulations: Supply an overall aim and approximately 3 or 4 objectives that the research will address. Overarching research questions can be stated here (300 words).

Relevance to Professional or Academic Field/Literature review
What have key authors written about your topic? The literature review should provide a brief background to the topic. You should carry out your literature review before finalising your research questions.
Describe the extant research literature using referenced material (no more than six key texts) - How your proposed research will fit in to the existing body of academic knowledge and practice in the professional field. - How your research will enhance knowledge or contribute to new understandings in the subject

Research Approach or Methodology
1. Describe the methods you intend to use to deliver your aim and objectives.
2. Provide detail of data source and any specialist resources or facilities you may require

Results and analysis
Provide an explanation of how you will analyse the data:
- performance measures to be used (quantitative analysis statistical measures)
- Any statistical analysis software (SPSS)
- Any evaluation methods if any

Conclusions
- Potential limitations and issues
- Ethical considerations
- Summarize the research outcomes and personal development that you hope will result from the project (280 words).

Reference list and bibliography (Additional to the word count)

All work cited in the proposal should be included in the reference list and all other work that you have read that is relevant to your topic but which is not cited should be included in your bibliography. You must create citations in Word and use the APA style of referencing.
