Written Assignment - Critical reflection of the team and establishing learning objectives for personal and professional growth

Learning Contract Purpose:

The purpose of the written assessment is to provide students with the opportunity to apply advanced knowledge of teams through a critical analysis of their workplace team at this point of time in the unit. This analysis provides the opportunity for the student to focus on team composition and team dynamics, as well as critically analyse their role within the team and their individual contribution to team functioning.  The learning contract provides students with the opportunity to set goals and objectives that will be a guide for personal and professional development across this unit.

Context: There are a number of different factors that contribute and interact, that may facilitate or inhibit inter professional teamwork and team dynamics.  Highly effective team work and team dynamics is strongly related to optimal team functioning and team outcomes, and has a positive influence on holistic patient centred care.  

Description of assessment task:

Provide a critical analysis of your workplace team and use relevant literature to support your discussion.

a) Critically analyse your team composition, including a brief description of your work place setting, model of service delivery, purpose of the team, team membership, and your own role within the team.  

b) Critically analyse the most relevant personal and professional factors of team members that influence collaborative team efforts. 

c) Critically analyse the most pertinent factors that influence team dynamics and team based care within your work setting.  This may include but is not limited to: team roles, team processes, socialisation, hierarchy, time, space and stages of team development.    

d) Critically analyse your own individual contribution to the team and your impact on interprofessional practice and teamwork.
