(a) Machines are indispensable to modern production. However, proper control of machine hazards has frequently been seen as costly and a constraint on productivity.

Illustrate out, in detail, the practical measures which can be taken to ensure the safe operation of machines and also improve productivity at a place of work by application of sound ergonomic principles.               

(b) Many ergonomics experts suggest that employers develop their own ergonomic programs to analyse risk factors at workplace. What, according to you, are the indispensable components of an effective ergonomic program and under what circumstances must such a program be established?

Lighting and temperature are significant factors which can affect workers’ comfort and health inside the work premises. Illustrate out, in detail, how you would control these factors at the workplace to ensure that workers operate in safe and healthy work environment

(a) Determine the types of injury which might be caused by incorrect manual handling of loads.  Illustrate briefly a good handling method which can be adopted by a person who is required to lift a load from the ground.

(b) Illustrate out the effects of health and safety on shift work?  What are the good practice guidelines which can be applied in enterprise to reduce the risk that workers are exposed to by shift work?

(a) prepare down the primary sources of stress at work. Illustrate out the management standards approach which can be implemented in organization to diminish the levels of occupational stress of workers.                                            

(b) What do you understand by the term workstation?  How would you enhance the design of a standing workstation by application of good ergonomic practices?
