Welcome to BUSS 5398 Managing Employee Performance and Rewards.

This course involves developing a clear understanding of different approaches to performance and compensation management. It incorporates theory and practice of managing performance and compensation by taking into account both tangible and intangible rewards within an international context to achieve strategic organisational outcomes.

We have had textbook supply issues in the past. To support us, the library has bought multiple copies of the e-book. At this stage, you can access the ebook on the library website. At a time a limited number of users (6) can access it simultaneously. When you are done accessing the ebook, please log off the library website so that others can access it.If you have adobe digital editions on your computer, you can download it through the library for a short time period.

If you want to buy it, the kindle version is a bit cheaper than the actual hard copy book. You can also download the kindle app for your computer for free, which makes it accessible even if you don't have kindle.

Assignment Structure - You will notice that there are three quizzes for this course. This is designed to make sure that you work through the study period. It helps us monitor student learning and also works as a feedback for you identify your strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need work. So, please make sure you work regularly and keep updated with the work. All assignments are individual assignments.

Assessment - Project: Performance and Compensation Portfolio

This is the final assignment for this course. You are expected to negotiate access to an organisation and research the company history, organisational structure, and performance and compensation practices. Based on what you have learned, create a report on performance and compensation strategy for that company and develop recommendations.

If you can't get access to an organisation, you can also do this project on an ASX listed public company. Select a publicly traded company that became prominent in news media for either exemplary pay practices or particularly poor pay practices. You will research the company history, organisational structure, and financial performance and media information on performance and compensation practices and write a report.

The final report should contain: (3000 words)(objectives being assessed- CO4)
