Unless you are the chief of a police department of one (and there are some of those), you are going to need some people. As you learned listening to Chief Perez, in creating her department, she had to hire every one, she had to determine the ranks, she had to determine the positions, both sworn and civilian. What type of candidates will you want? What will be the requirements?

So, for this week, you will determine the entry level requirements for your candidates. Will there be an entrance examination? If, so, what will it measure and why? If there is a physical agility test, what exercises will be used? Will there be different forms of exercises for males and females and will those differences stand court challenges? Will you polygraph your candidates and which areas for questioning can be used? Will you conduct background investigations and how extensive and invasive will they be and how much will they cost? What else will you include?
