The Gardener's Box of assorted soil enhancers from Green Acre Getaway Gardens has been featured on Good Morning America. The unique child safe and adult friendly package opening has received the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission 'Product of the Year' Award. Orders have increased substantially and the need to timely meet the demand from customers is critical. The operations manager, Taylor, is in charge of the MRP program. The Green Acre Getaway Gardens gift boxes are a collection of three types of coffee in a designer container.

The Gardener's Box (A) is composed of two bags of Day Lilly soil enhancers (D), two bags of Rose soil enhancers(R), and four bags of standard soil base (S). In order to produce the Day Lilly soil enhancers (D), one unit of uniform aerator (U) is blended with three units of Green Acre Getaway Gardens fertilizer (F). Each bag of the uniform aerator (U) is processed from one bag of standard soil base(S). Each bag of Rose soil enhancers (R) requires four units of Green Acre Getaway Gardens fertilizer (F) and one bag of standard soil base(S).

An order of 200 Green Acre Getaway Gardens Garden's Box is due on day six. Also, an order of 800 Garden's Boxes is due on day ten.

The MRP worksheet lists the on-hand inventory, lead time, safety stock, and the number of units on-order.

1. Place your name in the Properties page of this Excel Workbook.

2. You do not need to use equations for this exercise. You may enter values for the correct planning table. (However, You may use equations if you want)

3. You will notice comments to the right of the MRP worksheet. These will tell you if something is wrong with each section. Remember to read the Story Problem. The "error counter" estimates the number or errors remaining.

4. For your convenience, the MRP example presented in the Operations and Supply Chain Management text by Jacobs and Chase is included on the "Textbook Example" spreadsheet.

5. NOTE: Do not use the drag-and-drop feature to move numbers on the MRP worksheet. Doing so will cause the "error counter" to incorrectly evaluate your table.
