Introduction:

Zamil projects is the part of the very well-known Zamil groups in KSA and working on the fields of mechanics, electric and plumbing construction company since 2008 with a number of 1000 employees in their respective fields. Moreover, the company is working in the KSA market with estimated revenue of about $300-400 Million annually that increases the values of the company from time to time since its existence. Besides, the company has to hire new talents and efficient working from time to time because of the diversification of their wide working range in the market place. It is observed in the reports that the company has more than 1000 working employees for different task in different department.

Target marketing:

Normally all MEP in construction works, in different applications, Industrial, healthcare, commercial,...

But normally our chances in industrial like power plants, desalinations, better than other bcz it needs more engineering, and skilled labors. Then the health care especially hospitals 500 beds, and the lowest chances in commercial like hotels, malls, We can consider the commercial part is the blood ocean area for our company, and the industrial is the blue ocean, but the problem it is limited.

To increase the blue ocean area, we need to focus on high class commercial applications, like five stars hotels, critical applications like hospital, but we should provide advanteges to owner to select us,we can provide complete integrated MEP systems, we can provide our cooling equipments, Zamil cooling units, we can provide our control system " Zamil brand" and our firefighting system which is matching with civil defense requirements, and our energy metering and energy recovering systems for the high class commercial and hospitals, in this case we can reduce the cost by using our product from sister companies, and it will be attractive for owners to shift all risk for one contractor, it will reduce the coordination cost and commissioning cost.

The owners have two options, he can go with many contractors with lower installation cost, or he can select Zamil withhigher installation cost, but complete system and overall cost very close or little bit higher than individual, most of the owners for high class project prefer to pay more instead of taking the risk when they sublet the work to many contractors.

And the main advantage here, we will use our product, so the total responsibility of commissioning it will zamil alone.

Learning Aims

The purpose of the assignment is to help the student to:

• Understand key concepts, ideas and debates in the field of strategic management.
• Develop the ability to discuss and critique them through the use of real world examples.

Question 1

• You must provide an overview of your chosen organisation. Your answer will be strengthened if you use detailed and specific examples from your chosen organisation in the application of ‘blue ocean strategy'.

• Your chosen organisation does not have to be your current or previous employer. Particularly in cases where the organisation you choose is not your employer, you will need to undertake some desk research to collect relevant data to help build up a case study.

• In academic terms, studying an external organisation would have the benefit that you avoid your subjective bias toward your own company, which would inevitably influence your analysis. This does not stop you from picking your current employer but if you do you will need to be self-reflexive in your analysis.

Question 2

• Your assignment needs to provide a critical discussion of the academic literature not only on ‘blue ocean strategy' but also other approaches to strategy formulation. Avoid being overly descriptive.

Question 3

• In part (a) of this question it is essential that you must evaluate the usefulness of the strategy approach employed in your group's report for Trung Nguyen. In this part of the question you may wish to comment on both the level of detail and the availability of the information necessary for completion of the report.

• In part (b) your answer must evaluate your experience of working as part of a group. You must comment on and explain to what extent and why your participation and that of others in the group impacted on your answer to question 3 of the assignment. You should reflect on how different group members approached the group activities and on how the discussions affected your answer to this assignment.

• In order to answer both part (a) and (b) you will need to provide specific examples, which may be taken from both the text of the report and from your experience of being involved in its preparation.

• In order to comment on parts (a) and (b) of your group's strategy report you may need to summarise some of the main debates that were discussed in your group activities. This might involve mentioning the different points of view that were raised in discussions; how others responded to your ideas and arguments; and how national/regional differences and professional experience shape different points of view? You may also wish to compare and contrast different arguments and discussions.
