Task:

You work as a member of the Quality Assurance team in an organisation of your choice. You have been asked to prepare a formal report to identify new techniques and best practice that could be adopted to improve how key processes are monitored, controlled and improved within your organisation.

You should familiarise yourself with current literature & best practice for process monitoring, data collection and data analysis tools and techniques.

REPORT FORMAT

1 Executive Summary

- A few short paragraphs outlining the scope, methodology, conclusions and recommendations of the assignment

2 Introduction -675 Words

- Introduction to the organisation, provide a brief description of products supplied

- Description of data types collected
- Examples of data types collected

3.1 Process Monitoring & Control - 675 Words
- Description of a key processin the organisation including a brief description of the customers of the product from the process and their requirements
- Control & monitoring points within the process, where & how data is collected and used to control the quality of the product
- Description of how customer perception data related to the product is captured, recorded and used

3.2 Process Improvement - 675 words
- Description of the same key process as in 3.1 in terms of how it is used to assess process performance compared to organisational & customer requirements
- How data collected is used to identify improvement opportunities and how these opportunities are realised
- Description of the internal methods used to assess the impact of improvement actions on process performance (ie. Process monitors, testing, customer trials etc)

4 Tools - 900 words
- Description of two tools used forcollect or analyse the data described in section 3.1 and/or 3.2
- Description of how the tools are used and the strengths and weaknesses of the tools

5 Evaluation of results - 450 words
- Using analysis in section 3 & 4 and review of current literature on best practice critically comparethe organisations current practices against best practice
- Conclusions on how organisation can improve its practice through changes or the adoption of new tools to improve use of and analysis of data control processes.
- Assessment of positive and negative impacts your conclusions may have on the organisation

6 Recommendations - 900 words
- Based on conclusions in your evaluation of results, recommend two improvement actions that your organisation could implement to improve the processes used to collect and analyse data to monitor and/or improve key process performance
- A brief implementation plan including an assessment of with mitigating actions
